Kiparoo Farm

It is very HOT weekend!!!!

Recap from yesterday's event...

We spent two hours in Kiparoo Farm in Adamstown yesterday. I'm in love with the yarns they carry. Annie (owner of Kiparoo Farm and her son were so friendly and helpful. They have a little store on their property. I learned that they open every Saturdays at 10 to 5 p.m. I would love to go back there in the fall after completing with my shawl projects.

Look what I purchased at Kiparoo Farm....

Four skeins of Blue/Teal/Grey wool & mohair for the Kiparoo "Autumn Lace" shawlTwo skeins of light purple brushed mohair (hand dyed) for the scarf
Three skeins of Light Brown (tweed) wool & mohair for the Moonlight Stole (Kiparoo Farm pattern)

We stopped at Frederick Old Town and took a long walk around the town. It was really nice strolling in the historic places.

On the way back home after a long day at Frederick, I completed the heel and gusset.

I was so excited to get the yarns that I purchased at Kiparoo Farm. I started knitting the shawl. I frogged two times and decided to get myself a glass of wine! Guess what, it worked this time and I finally went up to 32 rows.

Happy Father's Day to my dad and all the Dad's out there. I hope every father has a wonderful day. :) I love you, Dad!!!

Ahhhh!! TIGF!!!

We finally found the patio set we like. Took us almost a year to look for the right one for our deck. I really love it so much especially my DH put the wood in the middle of the table for the bonfire at night. Really cool!!! I could sit there and knit all night long!!!

Superfancy Potholder Loop Rug
Source: Mason & Dixon Knitting book
10 bags of potholder loops
Needle Size 35
This project was FAST and FUN!! It should take me a day to finish it but I didn't finish up the last half way after knitting first half as soon as the loops arrived in the mail.two weeks ago. I finally finished it up last night after cleaning in the living room. It would be perfect mat in the bathroom but my DH thought it is too much colorful for our master bathroom. It's really comfortable standing on the mat. Hmm...not sure if I should keep it or give it to someone who would like to have colorful bathroom!

Tomorrow, my DH and I will go Kiparoo Farm's Annual Yarn and Ice Cream Day in Adamstown. It's about 45 minutes drive from our house. I brought their pattern for the shawl at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival last month and would like to buy their yarns for the shawl but they were out of the colors I like. We're going there tomorrow morning and hope to buy the yarns I like for the shawl.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay COOL! It's going to be HOT weekend here!

Happy Knitting!!!

Me the BAD Blogger again!!!

Wish my life here begins to slow down. Next two week especially, I will be very busy preparing for a big conference that I'm hosting at work. I can't wait to get this event off the list as we started preparing since last year. Hopefully I will have a quiet summer and will need more time to knit. I didn't knit much lately except for the socks I'm working for the Project Spectrum. I really want to knit the shawl, caridgan and sweater but didn't have time to slow myself down!!! Sigh!!!!

Last weekend, my DH and I decided to go to Williamsburg, Virginia for two nights. It was really fun weekend, especially the weather were so perfect! We were supposed to leave Saturday early morning but we decided to leave Friday night after work. Sure glad we did!!! It was only two and half hours drive. I grabbed the Williamsburg magazine and brochures after checking in the hotel and did some research around the area. I saw the Knitting Sisters ad and told my DH that I would like to stop on the way to Yorktown if time permits. Guess what, he said that we could stop there first before we arrive Yorktown. Isn't he sweetheart?

I brought Opal sock yarn (I could not resist that color!!!), Kid's Fruit Cap pattern and little cute sweater keychain!!

We spent all day in Historic Yorkstown and Historic Jamestowne on Saturday. Historic Jamestown is most fantastic places to see. They are preparing for 400th anniversary of the colony asw the first permanent English settlement in America next year. You MUST see the Archaearium. They have artifacts which were discovered underground of the Historic Jamestowne. Interactive virtural viewers give you the glimpse of how the people lived during the early years of the settlement. We want to go back again next year for the 400th anniversary events.

We spent all day in Colonial Williamsburg. We were so disappointed that they didn't provide any sign language interpreters or scripts for us to read about the history of Colonial Williamsburg. We spent all day walking around the places but didn't understand what the people who work there talk about. Being deaf is disadvantaged because we need to call two weeks advance to have them to get us interpreters. We think it is not fair because anyone could stop by whenever they feel like while deaf people need to make an appointment. I don't want to give you wrong idea but we are always proud to be deaf, anyway.

I'm knitting Blueberry Waffle sock -using Tess Designer yarn that I brought from MD S&W. I found the free pattern few months ago and thought it would be perfect sock for June Project Spectrum.

Happy Knitting!!
