Long Time No Blog Post!!!

Just a short note.....

Sorry, I don't mean to worry you, but I'm fine. I'm so swamped at work for last two weeks with the fiscal year budget report and staff evaluations. Things are really CRAZY at work lately. Hopefully I will get my life back this weekend by catching up all the emails, reading blogs and knitting.

So sad, not too much knitting over the week and weekend but I got one sock almost done!! I gave up knitting "Paw Up" mitten as I have trouble understanding the instruction. I hope I will find someone who can help me with it. Maybe Jerri Lyn can help me!!! Yo! Jerri Lyn, are you free this Sunday??

Oh oh... two GREAT news!!!

* I got in Secret Pal 6!!!!! I signed up and realized that I missed the deadline. They put me on the waiting list and finally told me that I'm IN!!! Yay!!!! Good way to meet new people and enjoy the surprise goodies!!! I love to spoil people.

* Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's newest book "Yarn Harlot" arrived! That book is so hilarious!!! I love her so much as I'm not alone!!! I know she would be my BEST friend!!! The book is a MUST!!! It will make you laugh!

I better go now as I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow will be the longest day at work!!!!

Weekend Knitting and Painting

(Carl- my boss, Craig, my DH and Paul, my BEST friend)

We went to see the Washigton Nationals (vs. Florida Marlins) game last Thursday. The weather was so PERFECT. The Nationals team played poor. So embarassing for the team but I really had a great time with three crazy guys!!!! I'm so glad that Paul came. He normally decline the offers to go to the games. I tend call Paul as my "brother". We know each other since 1988 and work in same departments for more than 16 years. Paul is adminstrative assistant to Dean of Student Affairs which is my boss, Carl. So what did I do while the crazy guys watching the games. I knitted and drank beer!!!
I decided to try to make the "Pop Up Paws" gloves. The instruction is very clear and it's really challenge for me as it is my first time knitting fingerless glove. The thumb looks huge but it fits me perfect! I'm so curious when I'm done with the first glove.

The instruction book I brought from the LYS few months ago. If you or your friend want the copy: you can contact Skacel Collection - Phone number is (425) 291-9600 or e-mail Old-Trail-Yarns@worldnet.att.net

I had so much fun yesterday with my friend, Sue. She is one of the member of "Crazy Crowd Craft" group. We meet once a month making something but we didn't meet since last May. We were supposed to make this project last June but Sue's hubby was in bad car accident. Thanks God, he is alright. We were not able to meet last three months due to time conflict. We finally met yesterday and finished the board. I really love the primitive designs. The pattern was found in the "Create & Decorate" magazine. I was eyeballing for this project for one year and finally made it. We spent all night painting the wood. This morning, I finalized the last touch of the work. I hung it up in the kitchen along with other Nations theme in the room.

Pattern: One Nation Evermore
Magazine: Create & Decorate, August 2004
Materials: arylic paints and pine board

Happy knitting! I'm going to back to work on the glove now. My DH is out with my boss watching Redskins game. No fair!!! But I'd rather staying home and knitting instead stuck in the heavy traffic before and after the game!

And the Secret Pal is......

.... I have been spoiling Jesse this summer. It was so much fun lurking at his blog and I found him very talented fair isle knitter and REAL cool guy!!!! I love the way he writes his blog. I read 100 things about him and found that there are few things we are so much common. No wonder, I love that man!!!!

I still don't know who is my Secret Pal but she (or he) keeps in touch with me through emails and agreed that she will send me the last package later this month which is perfectly fine with me.

I'm exicted that I will be teaching Beginner Knitting class at Gallaudet University. Few people have expressed that they want to learn how to knit, some needs to polish up their skills and some want to learn how to read the pattern. I'm thrilled as it was my dream to teach people how to knit. I may teach quilting class later this year along with other instructor. I will let you know as soon as the details will come.

My boss and I recieved the free tickets to Nationals game for tomorrow night. I'm so exicted that I will use my "knitting" time tomorrow night while watching baseball game. Maybe knitting another sock? Hmmm...maybe shawl? Hmmmm.... I have not decided which one???????

Happy HUMP day!!!

Is that man crazy or what?????

Labor weekend was supposed to be relaxing weekend for me but I spent all day on Sunday worried!!! Wonder why the folding chair along with my knitting project on the STREET? Can you imagine me sitting there and knit all afternoon? Yes, you bet!!! I should be CRAZY!! Do you want to know why?

What was the MAN doing up on the roof? Santa Claus? Nah.. Santa is supposed to wear red short!!! Wonder if he wants to show his little butt to the world?

Well, it was my crazy DH working on the roof!! It was so scary watching him walking on the roof. I could not stay inside wondering if he fell and screamed for help. Worse of all, I can not HEAR him at all. I was gone insane and decided to sit on the street so I can see him working on the roof and knitted! In my wild imagination, if he fell.....I could SCREAM my heart out asking for help and someone will call 911. I'm so sure that the neighbors thought we are NUTS!! I bet my mother would flip out seeing this. *Sorry, Mom!... he is perfectly safe and yes, he is CRAZY stubborn man**

Geez... look like he mediated!!! Craig obviously enjoyed sitting on the roof. He told me that he wish I could climb up and join him. He said the view from the roof to the city was so beautiful. Good thing that the weather was perfect. Of course, I would never dream that I would climb up to the roof and join with him. I bet the neighbors would call the police and send us to the psychiatric hospital for intensive evaluation.

Thanks to my DH!! I finished the Soleil top! Big Whew!!!! I have to say that I'm pleased with the result. Only I wish is that I finish it last May so I can wear it during hot days! Summer is over now!

Shocking News!!!

Definitely for me.... maybe not to you...

Before lunch, I recieved an email from the Office of Public Relations that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees wants all of Gallaudet employees and students to show up at the auditorium at 2 p.m. which was very unususal. Of course, we all were puzzled and figured out what was up with this.

It turned out that our Gallaudet President, Dr. I. King Jordan has decided to retire effective December 31, 2006. (Gallaudet News) I was so shocked and didn't expect to hear this news. I will definitely miss him! He used to be my professor in Psychology class. He became President of Gallaudet University in 1988 after the Deaf President Now (DPN). You can read more details - DPN

It's 8:10 p.m. and I'm not over with my numb feelings!
