Update WIP and Business Trip

Almost FO! Posted by Hello I have so much fun knitting supermerino yarn from ArtYarns. One more inches
to go before shaping the toe. Isn't that beauty!!!

Tomorrow morning, I will fly to Portland, Oregon and plan to spend there for the day then drive to Vancouver, Washington for the conference. Another 4 nights apart with my DH!!! *pouting* I wish he could come with me but he could not take days off from his work. I hope to stop one or two yarn shops there. I'm going to bring that sock and hope to work on second one. I also plan to bring the yarns to make Charolette's Web shawl.

My GREAT Sport Camp Team!!!! Posted by Hello

Me, Clayton, Nellie, Chavon, Kevin, James and Scott

Sport Camp 2005

Whew... I slept 12 hours!!!! I feel more energy now than last few days!!!

We had 66 boys and 14 girls (deaf and hard-of-hearing 10-18 years old) joining Basketball Camp for a week at Gallaudet University. I was Sport Camp Residential Director overseeing the kids at the residence hall. I slept in the residence hall for a week. The kids sure kept me and my camp counselors BUSY!!!

All week.... We repeatedly said...

"Good Morning!!!"
"Hey...put it DOWN!!!"
"Watch your LANGUAGE!!"
"NO running!!!!!"
"Hey.... leave her/him ALONE"
"What's wrong?"
"DON'T talk BACK!!"
"GO to your room NOW"
"Thank you!!!"
"Hey....what ARE you doing?"
"Don't do THAT!!!!"
"How's your practice?"
"Awww...you are SO mature"
"ARE you going to eat that?"
"Where is your vegetable????"
"PLEASE pick it up!!!!"
"TIME to GO......"
"HEY...you can NOT wander around the campus ALONE!!"
"COME here NOW"
"APOLOGIZE him/her now!!"
"Ohhhhh no....you sick, again??"
*gasping* "Why did you do that?"
"Where is your FOOD?"
"PUT it away, NOW?"
"Good job, *name of camper*!!!!"
"Come on, you walk sooooo SLOW!!! Hurry hurry!!!"
"Hey, where ARE you?"
"Are you enjoying yourself?"
"Gooooooooooood night... sweet dream!!!!"

First night was nightmare.... the kids were so HYPER and one girl complaining nausea all night vomited! Slept 4 hours.

Second day was not too bad. Sent female camper to the hospital (stomach flu) I slept 5 hours.

Third day was unbelievable CRAZY... three girls were hospitalized at different times. One had heart problem, one had mild stomach flu and one had bladder infections) Slept 3 hours.

Fourth day was HELL!!! The boys were OUT of control.....7 boys refused to go to bed till 1 a.m.!!! I had to kick three campers out. Slept 4 1/2 hours.

Fifth day was the BEST!! I finally feel so relaxed although the kids were wild. It was their last night. Slept 2 1/2 hours

Sixth day, the parents came to pick up their kids...... we said...

"Awww....you were so GREAT camper!"
"Come back next year!!!"
"I miss you!!!"
"Have a GREAT summer!!"
so on.... so on... so on....

Last three campers checked out at 3 p.m. and one camper came back saying that his flight cancelled!!! Sighs.... Called his parents and rearranged his flight schedules. Left him with one of my camp counselor to take care. I finally left at 5 p.m.

Drove home.... Hugging kissing hugging kissing my hubby! God, I miss him so terribly lot!!! I'm soooooo happy to be HOME!!! I zonked out real FAST!!

YES, I'm ready for next year!!!!

Another WIP?

Sock!! Posted by Hello

I was not planning to start another WIP but Jerri Lyn paged me last night that she wants to learn how to knit the sock. She had trouble understanding how to cast the stitches in three needles. We agreed to meet today for lunch and I can show her how to cast on three needles. After talking with her through pager, I decided to grab the yarn and knitted few rows before I went to bed. I could not stop knitting and it was one o'clock in the morning!!! Eeekkk!!! Knitting is really addicted!!!

I met her at lunch time and showed her the trick. She made good progress so far!! Be sure to check her blog of her progress!!! I love her and her humor!!!!!

We agree to meet again tomorrow for lunch and see how she is doing with her new sock! Photos - maybe!!!!

New project and I FINISHED it in an hour!!!!!

Beaded Knitting bracelet Posted by Hello

I decided to join the beaded knitting group and found the pattern to make the bracelet. I *heart* bracelets!!!!! I don't know how many bracelets I have but I know I have several ones. After reading the pattern, I decided to go to Michael's and brought the red beads, clasps and wire (#32). Put all the beads in the wire was PAIN but knitted the wire along with the beads was FUN!!! Took me an hour to finish it!!! I showed my sweet DH.

DH: (*looking at my bracelet*) Who gave you?
Me: No one!
DH: Did you buy it?
Me: Just beads, clasps and wire
DH: Huh?
Me: I made it! DUH!!!
DH: (*puzzled and look at my bracelet very closely) No way!! you knitting with THAT wire??
Me: Yup!! It was little awkward but fun to knit with!
DH: (staring at me)
Me: Do you have problems?
DH: How many bracelets do you have now? Are you going to make more?
ME: (snickering) Countless and YUP!! I'm going to make MORE and MORE!!!
DH: (rolling eyes) Impressive!

So... I'm going to practice knitting with the wire and beads. I want to make the necklace!!! Yup... I *heart* necklaces!!! Don't ask me how many necklaces I have!!!

Oh oh...I have more ..... PINS!!!! Yes... I collect PINS!!!!! Will take few photos of my pins later.... (warning: you better close your jaw when you see the pictures)

New WIP

Last Sunday......

I have decided to put Soleil away for a while and need more time to grief!!! I need to change the battery for my hearing aid so I can listen *rip*rip*rip*rip* the whole thing. I'm not ready to listen and feel it!!!

I looked through all of my stash (I mean, the huge stash!!!) and decided to make.....

******Waaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!*****

Soleil top is FINISHED but but but it doesn't fit me at all!!!

*gasping*

Not too small or too short!

But tooooooooo BIG!! **waaahhh!!!**

I was shocked and checked the gauge! Jeez...I must have knitted loose. I should have doublechecked the gauge.!! Seems that the gauge and I are not getting along!!! I thought I used the right needles after checking the gauge.

I love the color and yarn so much. I'm not going to waste it but I have to RIP*RIP*RIP it all off and will start it all over! I have no one to blame but ME! I deserve to be punished for not checking the gauge. I know the gauge is very important! Okay..okay..okay, I will check the gauge very carefully this time.

*sighing*

Productive Weekend

It was very good weekend for me!!! Last Saturday, Jerri Lyn and I went to the Quilt Show in Chantilly, Virginia. It was our first time and I really enjoyed so much. A lot of quilts displayed there as well as many vendors sell fabrics, patterns and notions. I brought few patterns. I really love quilting so much. I have not make one for a while. Now, I have two or three projects that I really want to make this summer. Took few pictures to show you.

Joys of Knitting????

As of last Saturday Posted by Hello I spent all night knitting Soleil top. I had soooo much fun knitting round the top with the glass of wine and watching movie "The Prince and Me".

After knitting round, I changed the straight neecles to knit straight 10 rows. I noticed something really odd with the top. See below and see it for yourself!!!

You be the JUDGE!!!

Oh NO NO NO NO!!!!!! Posted by Hello

I TWISTED!!!!!!!!! Crap crap crap crapola!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sooooo MAD!!! I thought drinking wine was BIG mistake!!!! I could not figure out WHY and HOW I did!!!! I was so discouraged and was ready to give up! I decided to make myself a cup of coffee and took deep breath!!! I finally understand why I made mistakes by purling under the needle. Rip..rip...rip....rip......five inches OFF. *sniffling* I put it away till last night.

So after 12 hours of griefing, I picked it up and knitted. I finally did it right after four rows and decided to watch "The Increibles". Oh boy, I really love that movie and I did very good job with Soleil so far!!!! I'm hoping to finish it by end of this week. Will post the update Soleil tomorrow.

Another WIP

My bedtime knitting - Fern Lace Wrap Posted by Hello

Here is the wrap I knit before I go to bed. I like to lay on the bed and knit for 30 minutes before I go to bed. I really love the yarn (KnitPick- Andean Silk (55% Superfine Alpaca, 23% Silk and 22% Merino Wool) that I got from my Secret Pal 4. The yarn is so soft and it's great to knit lace wrap.

More WIP

Yay...I survived today!!!

I had really bad morning!!!! I fall asleep in front of TV last night and woke up at 3 a.m. feeling sooooo nauseous with bad cold. I could not go back to sleep till an hour later. I was supposed to get up at 5:45 a.m. for the staff meeting at 7 a.m. but I woke up at 8 am!!! Jeez.. I felt like I was road runner trying to speed up getting shower and dressed up.

The weather and traffic were so miserable!!! RAINING and COLD weather!!! Yucky!! Took me an hour and half to get to work. @#%&>!!!!!! I was sooooo MAD that I realized that I left my pager at home.

(Mental note to self: put all emergency phone numbers in MY purse in case I forget to bring my pager)

I was so frustrated for not able to notify my staff that I was stuck in bad traffic. Poor they were sooooo worried and paged me several times asking for me. Of course, my pager was sitting alone vibrating on the kitchen counter!! I wish there is special device installed in my car such as closed captioned for the radio talk so I will know which roads are congestion or not. I did bring my knitting bag with me but could not knit lace scarf while driving.

(Mental note to self: always leave simple knitting project in the car that I knit garter or stockinette stitch while driving in very very slow motion)

I finally got to work at 10:15 am! Sighs!! I never felt so stressed. I missed two morning meetings but made in 11 am meeting. Not productive day but I survived through miserable day!

TGIF!!!

I received Stitches East brochure through mail today. I definitely will go there again but I'm not sure if I should register for knitting classes.
Jerri Lyn, you interested??? Please let me know!

Hmmm Hmmm....My plans for this weekend?
* Laundry
* Knitting
* May go Quilt Show
* REST!

Have a wonderful weekend!! Happy Knitting!

Whew!!!!

Crap crap crap but....

thanks goodness that tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! I feel so blah all week with sinus headaches, eye-itching and sore throat!! I know I feel so blah once or twice a week but all week!! I feel so disconnected from knitting world but did little knitting every night. I have not touched my Soleil summer top all week. I have trouble understanding the instruction and hope my dear friend, Jerri Lyn will rescue me tomorrow so I hope to finish it up real soon.

I decided to knit the scarf with beautiful yarn that I got from
SP 4. Will post it when I feel better.

I'm looking forward to resting up this weekend!!!
